F&NHB celebrates 83 young achievers at Chairman’s Award 2025, reinforcing commitment to future talent

SHAH ALAM - Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB) recognised the achievements of 83 students at the F&N Chairman’s Award 2025, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing academic excellence, holistic development and future-ready talent among the children of its employees.

A total of RM230,500 was awarded to the students in recognition of their strong academic performance, co-curricular accomplishments and successful admission into higher education institutions.

The annual initiative, introduced in 2003, remains a key platform for the Group to support youth development and reward excellence. Students were recognised based on strong academic results in national and international examinations, while tertiary recipients who secured placements in local and overseas universities received significant financial support.

Special recognition was also given to those who excelled in sports and co-curricular activities, with all recipients receiving certificates alongside cash awards.

F&NHB Chairman Tengku Syed Badarudin Jamalullail, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to cultivating future leaders.

“At F&NHB, we take pride in seeing young talent flourish into capable future leaders. This award is our way of recognising their dedication, hard work and also the support and guidance of their families who nurture and inspire them every step of the way.

“By celebrating their achievements, we hope to motivate them to dream bigger, pursue their passions and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer Lim Yew Hoe emphasised that the company’s commitment to youth development has been a consistent part of its long-standing legacy.

Throughout its 140-year presence in Malaysia, F&N has maintained a continuous focus on investing in future generations as part of its broader growth and sustainability efforts.

“Through initiatives like the Chairman’s Award, we encourage youth to excel, build capability and explore pathways that may include the opportunity to one day become a part of F&N AgriValley’s future talent pipeline,” Lim said.

The ceremony also featured reflections from recipients and their families, many of whom described the award as both a recognition of effort and a source of motivation for future pursuits.

Muhammad Fauzi Ahmad expressed pride in his son after he secured a place in a mechanical engineering programme in Germany.

“I am very proud of my son for achieving his dream of studying engineering in Germany, a leader in automotive innovation. Supporting my children through their studies has always been important and I hope his success will inspire his younger siblings to aim high,” he said.

His son, Muhammad Fahim Zharfan, shared that the application process to Hochschule Kaiserslautern became more manageable through careful research and proper guidance. He described feeling both excited and relieved upon receiving his acceptance.

In preparation for this new chapter, he has also been learning German for the past two years to better adapt to the environment.

“I have always been fascinated by how the world works and this programme will allow me to explore that curiosity. I am grateful to my father for his support and to F&N for providing a strong foundation. I would love to work at F&N one day and hope to make a positive impact through my skills,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nagarajan Muthusamy encouraged parents to remain supportive throughout their children’s academic journey.

“My advice to parents is to stay supportive and patient throughout their child’s academic journey. Encouragement and belief in your child can make a big difference as they work towards their goals,” he said.

His daughter, Dhanika Nagarajan, who will be pursuing English studies at Tunku Abdul Rahman University, described the application process as both exciting and challenging.

Being accepted into the university has motivated her to work even harder as she prepares for her academic journey.

“I chose to study English because I am passionate about language and communication and I hope to use these skills to inspire and empower others. I am also proud of my dad’s dedication at F&N and given the opportunity, I would love to work there in the future,” she said.

Recipients from various academic fields also shared how the award reinforced their aspirations.

Siti Nursuhaila Junaidi expressed gratitude after being accepted into the international relations programme at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).

She said the opportunity has inspired her to work towards a future where she can make a positive contribution through the field of international relations.

“I am also proud of my mother’s dedication at F&N and seeing her commitment motivates me to pursue my goals with the same determination,” she emphasised.

Her mother, Masayu Busrah, expressed deep pride in her daughter’s success, saying that moments like these also reminded her of her own experience at F&N.

She reflected on working alongside supportive colleagues and highlighted initiatives such as the Chairman’s Award, which she felt demonstrated the company’s genuine care for employees and their families.

Similarly, Lau Cheng Wei, who is pursuing agricultural science at Kuala Lumpur University of Science and Technology, highlighted his ambitions in the agriculture sector.

“I am grateful to be accepted into KLUST and it motivates me to build a meaningful future in agricultural science where I can contribute positively to society.

“I am also proud of my father’s dedication at F&N and seeing his commitment has inspired me to work hard and stay focused on my goals,” he said.

His father, Lau Lay Cher, reflected on both his son’s achievement and the company’s long-term vision.

“I am truly proud of my son’s success. Moments like this remind me of my time at F&N, working alongside supportive colleagues and seeing the company’s commitment to sustainability.

“His degree in Agricultural Science (Plantation Management) is closely aligned with F&N AgriValley and I believe it will allow him to contribute meaningfully to sustainable plantation practices and the future of our agri-operations,” he mentioned.
