TEL AVIV - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced for the first time that he has undergone treatment for a malignant prostate tumour, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

"I underwent targeted treatment that removed the problem and left no trace of it," the 76-year-old wrote on X on Friday. Netanyahu added that he is in good health.

The tumour was discovered at a very early stage during a follow-up examination. He did not specify exactly when or how he was treated as a result.

Netanyahu also published a health report. However, he said he delayed the announcement to prevent Iran's leadership from spreading propaganda.

During the war with Iran, there were rumours on social media that Netanyahu had died. Speculation about his state of health emerged both at home and abroad.
