KUALA LUMPUR - The Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) has been urged to respect the objectives behind the formation of the Unity Government to ensure political stability in the state, said Bayan Baru Member of Parliament Sim Tze Tzin.
In an Instagram post today, Sim, who is also Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategy director, stressed that the Unity Government at both federal and state levels was formed after no single coalition secured a majority in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"The agreement behind the Unity Government is to establish a stable administration until the end of the term.
"I hope BN Negeri Sembilan will honour this agreement until the term concludes. Stability and the people’s wellbeing must come first,” said Sim, who is also Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry.
Earlier today, all 14 Negeri Sembilan assemblymen from Umno and BN unanimously withdrew their support for the state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, citing an ongoing leadership crisis.
Negeri Sembilan Umno chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said an official notification regarding the matter would be sent to the Speaker and Secretary of the State Legislative Assembly later today.
The 2023 state election saw Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN form the state government after securing 31 out of 36 seats in the state assembly.
Of the total 36 seats, PH won 17, BN 14, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) holds five. - BERNAMA
