He also requested that the MACC send an official notice if it wishes to call him in for questioning.

SHAH ALAM - Pandan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli says he expects to be the next person called up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in an investigation involving a government joint venture with a global semiconductor company.

He said the development follows his former aide James Chai's return from Cambridge,United Kingdom on Tuesday to give a statement to the MACC.

Rafizi said the investigation relates to allegations of misconduct in the government's joint venture with ARM, an international semiconductor software company.

"I am happy to assist the MACC's investigation. The way I see it, Chai is the last witness the MACC wants to take a statement from. After Chai, it's just me left.

"So I may be called up, then detained and charged within a week, two weeks or three weeks from now," he said in a video post on Facebook on Tuesday.

Sinar reported that Chai appeared at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have his statement recorded as part of an investigation into alleged misconduct linked to a mega agreement with a leading semiconductor company from the United Kingdom.

Rafizi also requested that the MACC send an official notice if it wishes to call him in for questioning.

"The problem is I don't have WhatsApp and I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognise. There are a lot of scammers these days.

"So I'm requesting that the MACC send a notice calling me in to give a statement, or if they want to arrest me, send a notice in advance to my email at rafizi.ramli@gmail.com," he said.

The former economy minister also stressed that he has never fled from authorities despite having been detained on several occasions in the past.

"Don't worry, I have never run anywhere. I have been detained by authorities dozens of times since 2010 and not once have I ever run.

"InsyaAllah we will meet at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya very soon," he added.

In the same post, Rafizi shared that the joint venture in question was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in March 2025.

"If you recall, in March 2025, the Prime Minister launched this joint venture to enable Malaysia to transition from being a manufacturer that assembles semiconductor chips to a creator that designs semiconductor chips," he said.

Rafizi nonetheless maintained that he believes the investigation does not involve any missing funds.

"I know the investigation has nothing to do with missing money. If it did, I would have been detained long ago and tens of millions in cash would have been put on display for the public to see, as has happened in other cases involving politicians," he said.

He added that the investigation is more focused on allegations that he had pressured the government into signing the joint venture agreement hastily.

"Like the ART agreement that some parties said was rushed. Except I am being investigated extensively while the ART matter is not being touched at all," he said.
