SHAH ALAM – A 27-year-old woman from China died after falling from a height at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) on Friday.
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Ravi said the incident occurred at about 2.20pm at Level 3 of the terminal, where the woman was seen sitting outside a balcony area, crying and behaving aggressively.
He said security personnel had attempted to calm her, but she became increasingly agitated and resisted assistance.
“In an attempt to prevent further harm, security personnel approached the woman, but she struggled and subsequently fell into the loading bay area,” he said in a statement last night.
Medical personnel who arrived at the scene provided emergency treatment before the woman was taken to the Putrajaya Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5.09pm.
Preliminary investigations found that the victim was scheduled to return to China on May 2. The case has been classified as a sudden death.
Ravi said police urge the public to refrain from making speculations to prevent the spread of false information.
“Those with information on the incident are advised to contact the KLIA district police headquarters at 03-8776 8222,” he said.
Earlier, videos of the alleged incident circulated on social media. In the clip, the woman was seen sitting on an exterior ledge at an elevated level, prompting concern among bystanders.
In one of the videos, a person believed to be airport security was seen attempting to assist her before she fell.
