SEREMBAN - Waris Nan Tua Klana Hulu, together with the Ibu Soko and other clan representatives, have selected and appointed an accountant, Muhammad Faris Johari as the new Undang of Luak Sungei Ujong.
In a joint statement today, they said the appointment of Muhammad Faris, 28, as Datuk Klana Petra, the 11th Undang of Sungei Ujong, was made during a customary installation ceremony at Telaga Undang on April 22.
"We, Waris Nan Tua Klana Hulu, together with the Ibu Soko and clan members, have reached a consensus to appoint Muhammad Faris Johari as Datuk Klana Petra, the 11th Undang of Luak Sungei Ujong, during the ceremony at Telaga Undang,” the statement read.
It said the ceremony was conducted in accordance with customary law, guided by principles of justice, lineage and tradition.
The appointment was further endorsed by the Ibu Soko and clan representatives of Klana Hilir, and witnessed by Ibu Soko Waris Negeri, Waris Negeri, Datuk Lembaga Lingkungan, To’ Buapak Lingkungan and government officials.
The selection of the new Undang followed the established genealogical provisions under Clause 27 of the Teromba and Genealogy of Sungei Ujong 1910, as well as the customary principles enshrined in Clause 5 of the Sungei Ujong laws.
Under Clause 48 (VI) of the same Teromba, the appointment was confirmed by Datuk Andulika Mandalika Zainol Ariffin Ibrahim, the recognised Tua Lembaga Waris di-Darat under the Negeri Sembilan state authority.
The customary process ensures that the appointment of Datuk Klana Petra is carried out without external interference, in line with Clause 14(1) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution 1959. - BERNAMA
