KUANTAN – Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has hit back at DAP advisor Lim Guan Eng, who described Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) as untrustworthy partners in the unity government.

Wan Rosdy said such remarks were unhelpful and could inflame the situation at a time when BN and Pakatan Harapan leadership were working to resolve several issues that had recently arisen.

"I would like to remind Lim Guan Eng not to be a troublemaker who could spark even bigger problems.

"If he holds negative views towards this party, he should understand that many within Umno and BN hold equally negative views towards him," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Wan Rosdy, who is also the Pahang Menteri Besar, stressed that for the sake of political stability and the people's interests, all parties must act maturely and professionally.

He said it was the responsibility of senior leaders to unite and strengthen the Unity Government, not to make statements that could damage relations between parties within the coalition.

"The people want stability and solutions, not prolonged political bickering," he said.

Earlier, local media reported remarks by the Bagan MP describing Umno and BN as unreliable partners in the Unity Government and urging voters to reject them at the next election.

Referring to Umno Negeri Sembilan's recent attempt to topple Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, the Bagan MP said it proved the coalition was willing to set aside national interests for personal political gain.
