SERDANG – Anxiety disorder is believed to have caused a female student to act out of control at a hostel here on Sunday.
The mother of the 19-year-old student came forward to clarify the actual condition of her daughter, who is said to be undergoing treatment for the issue.
According to the woman, her daughter is believed to have experienced emotional distress after being a victim of bullying.
“She was bullied before. When it happened again, she became very stressed. She wasn’t even aware of what she was doing. I’m sorry.
“Thank you for all the comments. Please pray that my daughter will be fine,” she said in a social media post.
Earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department rescued the female student, who was on the first floor of the hostel building, after receiving an emergency call at 7.37am.
Operations commander Senior Fire Officer I Nor Azuwan Zulghoni said upon arrival, the team conducted an initial assessment before managing to calm the victim and prevent her from acting out of control.
He said the victim was safely rescued and handed over to the school management for further action.
“The operation was fully concluded at 8.06am after the situation was confirmed to be under control,” he said in a statement.
