GUA MUSANG – Police have arrested the husband of a headmistress to assist investigations into allegations that he peeped on female pupils inside the toilet of a school here.
Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the 60-year-old suspect has been remanded for seven days from Sunday until this Saturday under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
According to a source, the elderly man had allegedly been seen behaving suspiciously near the girls’ toilet on several occasions before his actions were eventually discovered by pupils.
“The situation created feelings of insecurity among pupils and parents who were worried about the safety of their children.
“The first incident occurred at about 2.15pm on April 7 at the school canteen when four female pupils informed others that they heard their friend screaming from inside the toilet,” the source said.
The source added that several pupils claimed they saw two Year Two female students inside the toilet before noticing a man leaving the area.
The same individual was also allegedly spotted frequently around the school’s ‘surau’ during afternoon Al-Quran and Fardu Ain classes in early May.
“The man allegedly peeped at female pupils who were performing ablution. Following the incident, a police report was lodged to enable further investigations to be carried out,” the source said.
Police are continuing investigations into the case.
