SUNGAI PETANI – It never crossed the mind of a mother that her 14-year-old daughter, whom she raised with full love and care, would become the victim of a pedophile.
The story was shared by a source who is a civil servant who had handled the case several years ago.
The source said the woman, known as Azrina, 40 (not her real name), did not expect her daughter to become acquainted with a 20-year-old factory worker through social media.
"Azrina admitted that as the family's breadwinner and holding the status of a single mother, much of her time was dedicated to working, to the point that she overlooked the presence of a man taking the opportunity to approach her child.
"The matter was uncovered when the class teacher informed her about the child's development, as she frequently skipped school," the source said.
The source added that the woman grew even more devastated upon checking the victim's mobile phone and finding out they had met several times after school hours.
"What was even more disappointing was seeing inappropriate conversations between an adult man and the victim, who is an underage child," the source said.
The case, however, was handed over to the authorities, while the victim was transferred to a safe place.
