SHAH ALAM – Mandiri Development Centre Sdn Berhad is preparing to file a RM10 million defamation suit against Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim over allegations made in a public statement on May 17.
Its executive director Amir Hariri Abd Hadi confirmed that he has instructed his lawyers to initiate legal action against Kamil, which allegedly involved claims linked to the organisation and its financial transactions.
Amir said that a Letter of Demand (LOD) has been issued via email, with physical delivery scheduled for May 19.
He said that if the statement is not withdrawn, and an unconditional public apology is not issued within 48 hours, legal proceedings will proceed, including a RM10 million defamation suit.
Amir said that the allegations were unfounded and damaging to both his reputation and the organisation. He added that legal action was necessary to protect Mandiri’s integrity, warning that further statements deemed defamatory could also face legal consequences.
The LOD states that the claims are defamatory in nature, including allegations of serious wrongdoing and foreign-linked conspiracies.
It further states that Mandiri is committed to democracy, transparency and human rights and denies all allegations made.
As of now, Kamil has not issued an official response to the demand.
On May 17, Kamil issued a public statement in which he allegedly claimed there were seven transactions amounting to RM686,729 involving Mandiri Development Centre Sdn. Berhad., its executive director Amir and others linked to the organisation, along with allegations of misconduct.
