HULU SELANGOR - Police are looking into external factors and collecting information from the close contacts of Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, a teenager reported missing while hiking at Bukit Changkat Asa in Tanjong Malim last Saturday.

Hulu Selangor district police chief ACP Ibrahim Husin said the rescue team's assessment of the hiking trail showed it was unlikely the victim suffered a direct physical mishap.

"We will obtain details from her close friends, workplace, schoolmates and relatives to get a clearer picture of the situation.

"The search will proceed from two angles because we cannot rely on a single assumption. While the physical search at the location continues, an external investigation outside the area will also be conducted," he told reporters at the Incident Command Post (PKTK) here today.

Ibrahim said today's search and rescue operation for 19-year-old Nur Izzati Humaira used drones with thermal imaging.

He said attempts to track the victim using her mobile phone's signal were unsuccessful because the device was either switched off or out of battery.

"With current technology, we can only trace the phone's location based on telecommunication tower coverage when the device is active. However, the phone is currently off, making it untraceable," he said.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Rawang zone chief Mustakim Rimon said today’s SAR operation was suspended at 6.30 pm and will resume tomorrow morning.
