KUALA LUMPUR - PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been appointed as the party’s joint election director, replacing deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said Amirudin would shoulder the responsibility together with Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who remains in the position.
"In the next phase, Nurul Izzah will continue to play a strategic role by focusing specifically on strengthening the capacity of the party machinery and organisational work towards a more robust and structured direction.
"This focus is part of the party’s investment in every grassroots member, so that PKR’s strength continues to be built comprehensively, continuously and firmly rooted at all levels,” she said in a statement today following the decision reached at yesterday’s PKR Political Bureau meeting.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Datuk Azman Abidin has been appointed director of the main election operations room (war room), assisted by former National Unity Ministry secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi, to strengthen the coordination of strategy, field operations and monitoring of election machinery activities.
According to Fuziah, all the appointments are part of the party’s strategic restructuring to ensure PKR’s election machinery continues to be streamlined, coordinated and mobilised more comprehensively at all levels.
She said the move also continues the groundwork established previously, including strengthening election structures, coordination between states and divisions, as well as enhancing the use of data, systems and technology in field operations through the introduction of the Teras election system.
In addition, Fuziah also expressed appreciation to the 5,936 new members who joined PKR between April and May. - BERNAMA
