SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has reminded DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) not to overlook Barisan Nasional's (BN) contribution to post-General Election 15 (GE15) government formation, while issuing a series of challenges for the party wing to back its tough talk with action.
Dr Akmal said Dapsy may have forgotten that without BN's support, they might not be able to form the government like today.
"So do not talk about 'forgetting one's roots', because the reality is everyone knows who helped ensure political stability after the last GE," he said in a Facebook post.
He also challenged Dapsy to withdraw support from state governments formed together with BN.
"Withdraw support in Perak. Withdraw support in Pahang. Let us fight like 'gentlemen' and return the mandate to the people," he added.
The Merlimau state assemblyman said Umno Johor does not need to be questioned when it comes to the intention to go solo because from the beginning, there was never any agreement that BN must contest state elections or the GE together with Pakatan Harapan (PH).
He reminded that the government formed today is for the stability of the country, on the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong when no coalition had a simple majority.
"That is the reality. So Dapsy, do not look so flustered when Umno wants to go solo, because that has been the Youth wing's proposal to our leaders since last year and our leaders have listened to our voice and we will start in Johor," he said.
Dr Akmal also questioned whether DAP leaders listen to Dapsy's voice, while claiming DAP does not dare to take up the challenge to leave the Melaka state government.
"At least I dared to submit a resignation letter, not one but two letters have been submitted. You? Just talk.
"If you truly want to test strength, let us open the arena. Bring it on!" he stressed.
