IPOH - A man was found dead inside a vacant two-storey building on Jalan Dato Onn Jaafar in Ipoh on Tuesday (June 2).
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the victim was discovered after the police sought assistance to gain access to the locked premises at about 1.25pm.
A team from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene six minutes later.
They found the entrance of the building secured with a locked metal grille.
"Firefighters used a power saw to cut open the grille before entering the building," Sabarodzi said in a statement.
Upon gaining access, firefighters found a man on the first floor of the building.
Sabarodzi said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the police.
The body was later handed over to the authorities for further action.
The operation, which involved six firefighters and five police personnel, concluded at 1.55pm.
