BENTONG - Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman has expressed her disappointment after an individual allegedly stole from her office after receiving aid there on Friday.
She said the incident occurred while one of her staff members was processing the aid for the individual concerned.
Her office had handed over the assistance to the individual, after which the suspect allegedly took the officer's personal belongings and used the officer's bank card to make payments.
"I am deeply disappointed by this incident. Aid was given, yet the individual still chose to steal," she said on Saturday.
Young Syefura said the affected officer had lodged a police report and the matter had been referred to the authorities for further action.
"I hope the matter is resolved smoothly for the officer, that such incidents do not recur, and that appropriate action is taken against the suspect," she said.
She had earlier uploaded a closed-circuit television recording of over one minute showing two individuals outside the premises at the time of the incident.
In the footage, one of the individuals can be seen carrying a plastic bag believed to contain the aid items they had just received.
