10 houses destroyed in fire in Kampung Cina

Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Zuzuki Shafei said that his department received an emergency call regarding the incident before the fire brigade was dispatched to the location.

KOTA BHARU – A total of 10 semi-permanent houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Kampung Cina here on Monday. In the incident at about 12.34 pm, no casualties or injuries were reported.

Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Zuzuki Shafei said that his department received an emergency call regarding the incident before the fire brigade was dispatched to the location.

According to him, personnel from BBP Kota Bharu and BBP Kota Darul Naim rushed to the scene to carry out extinguishing operations.

"Initial assessment found that the fire involved 10 units of semi-permanent houses and there were no casualties," he said on Monday.

He said that a total of 20 firefighters with the assistance of five machinery including two Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT), a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) and two water tankers were deployed to control the fire. He said that extinguishing operations and control works were still underway.

"The cause of the fire and the amount of damage are still under investigation," he said.
