KUALA LUMPUR – Karangkraf Sdn Bhd and Media Prima Berhad Group have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation through a range of collaborative initiatives aimed at ensuring the Malaysian media industry remains relevant, sustainable and competitive amid evolving challenges.
Karangkraf chairman Firdaus Hussamuddin said despite often being perceived as competitors in the media and newspaper publishing sector, both organisations have maintained a long-standing working relationship, particularly in operational matters and industry development efforts.
Speaking after a corporate visit to Media Prima’s headquarters on Tuesday, Firdaus said such engagements provide valuable opportunities for industry players to exchange ideas, share experiences and better understand developments within the increasingly demanding media landscape.
“Media industry players need to remain united in facing increasingly complex challenges.
“In today’s environment, all media organisations need to move in the same direction because we carry a major responsibility to safeguard the welfare of society and serve as the voice of the people,” she said.
The visit was also attended by Karangkraf executive director Akmal Eirfan Fauzi, Sinar Karangkraf chief executive officer Farah Hussamuddin, Ultimate Print chief executive officer Azizi Fickry and Media Prima Berhad Group managing director Datuk Rafiq Razali.
Firdaus said strong relationships among media practitioners across different organisations are important in strengthening the industry ecosystem and enhancing the quality of information delivered to the public.
She added that both Karangkraf and Media Prima are among the country’s established media organisations and have the experience and maturity to implement initiatives that benefit the public and the industry.
Meanwhile, Rafiq said the two organisations have already collaborated on several initiatives, including newspaper printing and distribution operations.
According to him, those projects have been successfully executed and have strengthened confidence between both parties to pursue additional opportunities in the future.
“We have also invited our strategic partners to visit the company’s new office to further strengthen existing relationships.
“Everyone is aware that the media business is not an easy industry.
“Whatever can be done collectively to ensure the business continues to grow and remains sustainable, we are always open to discussions,” he said.
