PASIR SALAK – A man was killed after he was allegedly stabbed during a fight believed to have been triggered by jealousy at Kilometre 12, Jalan Trans Perak, here, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Perak Tengah District police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said police received information about the incident at approximately 5.49 am.
He said preliminary investigations found that the victim, a 29-year-old local man, suffered stab wounds during an altercation with another man whose identity has been established.
"The victim was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment before being pronounced dead by a medical officer.
"Further investigations revealed that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident in a black Proton Wira sedan bearing registration number WGX 3707," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He added that police are actively tracking down a man to assist in the investigation.
Hafezul Helmi said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He urged members of the public with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the individual involved to come forward and assist in the investigation.
