SHAH ALAM - Bersatu has been urged to either leave or be removed from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition immediately.
In a joint statement, 13 Bersatu MPs currently facing disciplinary action from the party said that all political appointments and state executive council (exco) positions held by Bersatu members in the affected states should also be reshuffled.
"Bersatu no longer has any value within PN. In terms of parliamentary representation, Bersatu is now down to just six MPs.
"If Bersatu remains in PN, the party's weaknesses and the arrogance of its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, will cripple PN," the statement said on Wednesday.
The statement was signed by Beluran MP Ronald Kiandee, Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Hulu Terengganu MP Rosol Wahid, Kangar MP Zakri Hassan, Lumut MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail and Rompin MP Abdul Khalib Abdullah.
Other signatories included were Sungai Besar MP Muslimin Yahaya, Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas, Sabak Bernam MP Kalam Salan, Ketereh MP Khlir Mohd Nor, Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Roslan Hashim and Kubang Pasu MP Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail.
The statement added that Pas' decision to sever ties with Bersatu did not come as a surprise.
According to the MPs, the move was a result of what they described as the arrogance of Muhyiddin, the party's secretary-general, Mohamed Azmin Ali and other senior party leaders.
"We are deeply disappointed with Bersatu's repeated actions that have violated the spirit of unity within PN. Its refusal to respect the spirit of cooperation among component parties has ultimately backfired and weakened the coalition that was built through great effort.
"As MPs, we have repeatedly raised concerns internally with Muhyiddin regarding the party's direction and the importance of maintaining good relations within PN.
"Unfortunately, every constructive criticism we voiced was ignored. Instead, the disciplinary board was misused to silence us from continuing to speak the truth," the statement said.
