Motorcyclist attacked with cleaver after honking on Federal Highway

A motorcyclist suffered injuries to his head and arm after he was allegedly attacked by another rider wielding a meat cleaver on the motorcycle lane of the Federal Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur near Section 13 here this morning.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Sarudin Samah said the incident occurred at about 7 am when the 45-year-old local man, who was on his way to work in Kuala Lumpur, sounded his horn at a rider believed to be obstructing the lane.

He said the 43-year-old local suspect was believed to have become upset by the victim's action.

"The suspect is believed to have stopped by the roadside before attacking the victim with a meat cleaver," he said in a statement today.

Sarudin said the victim was taken to Shah Alam Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition, while the suspect had been arrested to assist investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
