Mara will deploy former military personnel as full-time wardens across all 58 MRSM campuses nationwide by January 2027 to curb bullying and boost student discipline.

SHAH ALAM - Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will expand the placement of full-time wardens, comprising former armed forces personnel, across all 58 Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) institutions nationwide starting January 1 2027.

Its chairman, Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, said the rollout will begin earlier on July 1 with 10 MRSMs as part of an initial phase, following the identification and screening of suitable candidates throughout the current selection process.

“A study by Universiti Putra Malaysia showed that the pilot project placing full-time wardens from among former soldiers at MRSM Besut and MRSM Balik Pulau had successfully improved student discipline and even achieved zero bullying,” he said in a Facebook post today.

The study also found that former military personnel were effective in maintaining hostel order and security, while their presence helped curb incidents of bullying and vandalism.
