KUALA LUMPUR - A Form One student was choked by a friend following a misunderstanding over a canteen seat at a school in Cheras last April.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosdi Daud said his department confirmed receiving a report on a physical altercation involving two male students on April 16.
He said investigations found the incident occurred in front of the school cooperative and stemmed from a disagreement over canteen seating between the victim and the suspect, who is also a Form One student.
“The suspect choked the victim’s neck from behind besides verbally provoking the victim.
“Following the incident, the victim was referred to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Cheras for treatment on the same day,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Rosdi said the school had taken action against the suspect following a committee meeting involving police, the school and guardians on April 20.
“The suspect was issued a warning and suspended from school by the school management.
“Police advise all parties not to make any speculation that could disrupt investigations and to fully leave the case to the authorities for further action,” he said.
