SHAH ALAM – What was once an old Perodua Kancil left parked outside a house in Teluk Panglima Garang has found a new lease of life after being transformed into a unique buggy that now serves the local community.

His daughter, Rabiatulaini Hashim, 36, said her father spent between RM2,000 and RM3,000 to convert the ageing Kancil, which had previously been left unused at home.

“The vehicle that went viral was actually completed only about two weeks ago.

“My father came up with the idea of modifying the unused Kancil after seeing a similar concept before sending it to a workshop for welding and the installation of its steel frame,” she told Sinar.

She said several villagers also pitched in to help fulfil her father’s vision and bring the unusual project to life.

The buggy made its public debut during a religious lecture delivered by well-known preacher Ustazah Asma Harun at Surau Raudhatul Jannah.

Seeing many attendees forced to park far from the venue, Wak Hashim took the initiative to offer complimentary shuttle rides to worshippers.

“Whenever there is a religious programme, many people have no choice but to park quite a distance away and walk.

“So my father waits near the roadblock area and picks up worshippers before sending them directly to the entrance of the surau,” she said.

Throughout the programme, he travelled back and forth transporting congregants without charging a single sen.

Earlier, a video of Wak Hashim ferrying worshippers to the religious talk was uploaded by Rabiatulaini on her TikTok account, mrs RH, where it garnered more than 596,400 views and 50,900 likes.

She admitted feeling touched by the overwhelming response from netizens, many of whom praised her father’s willingness to help others.

“If there are programmes at the mosque or surau in future, there is a good chance my father will do the same again.

“He has always been someone who enjoys helping people and never expects anything in return,” she said.
