SHAH ALAM - The mystery of a man who went missing while returning home from work has been solved after his body was found in a drain near Persiaran Selangor, Section 15, here on Tuesday night.
The victim, aged in his forties and who worked in Bukit Raja, had earlier been reported missing by family members after he failed to return home to Section 25, Shah Alam.
Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah, said his department received information about the discovery of a man's body alongside a motorcycle at 11.40pm.
According to him, investigations found that the victim was riding a motorcycle on his way home from work at 5.40am on June 23.
"Upon arriving at the scene, the motorcycle ridden by the victim is believed to have lost control before veering to the left side of the road and falling into a drain.
"The accident caused the victim to suffer severe injuries and he was confirmed dead at the scene," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Sarudin said a post-mortem conducted at Hospital Shah Alam at 9am on Wednesday confirmed the victim's cause of death was due to chest injuries from the road accident.
"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
He said members of the public with information related to the accident are urged to come forward to assist the investigation by contacting the investigating officer from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) at Shah Alam District Police Headquarters, Inspector Zaharizul Zamri, at 019-3229097.
Earlier, a viral social media post had circulated about a missing man believed to have failed to return home after work.
According to the post shared online, the man was identified as Mohd Suhadi Mohd Noor Din, who was reported missing at around 5.40am on Tuesday.
It is understood that Mohd Suhadi was last detected in the Toyota Bukit Raja area here before he could not be reached by family members.
According to the information shared, the man was believed to be riding a Honda EX5 motorcycle bearing registration number DAL590 when he was last seen.
The post had also asked members of the public with any information on Mohd Suhadi's whereabouts to contact 018-4736012 to assist efforts to trace him.
