SEREMBAN - Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) has appointed Spanish coach Daniel Giménez Alcañiz as the squad's new head coach for the 2026/2027 season.
NSFC in a statement today said the 42-year-old UEFA Pro Licence holder has over a decade of experience in professional football across Europe, Asia and Africa.
"Throughout his coaching career, he has served with Al Ahed FC (Lebanon), Al Nejmeh SC (Lebanon), Al Hilal (Sudan), Modern Sport FC (Egypt), Akhaa Al Ahly FC (Lebanon), the Lebanese National Under-17 squad and Al-Nasr Club in the Oman Professional League.
"Among his greatest achievements include winning the 2019 AFC Cup with Al Ahed FC, winning the Sudanese Premier League with Al Hilal and most recently finishing the Oman Professional League with Al Nasr in third place, thus qualifying the club for the Arab Club Champions Cup,” according to the statement.
NSFC said the appointment was in line with the club’s direction which emphasises the development of young players, a clear game identity, tactical discipline and the formation of a competitive and sustainable team.
Meanwhile, NSFC chairman Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun in the same statement said Daniel’s appointment went through a thorough evaluation process and was believed to be the most suitable candidate to lead the club’s football development project.
He said Daniel's experience in various countries and his modern football philosophy are in line with the identity that NSFC wants to implement.
"We want to build a team that dares to play modern football, has good tactical organisation and at the same time gives space and opportunities to young players to develop.
"Daniel has a good record in developing young talent and maximizing the potential of players. This is very important because the future of NSFC depends on the club's ability to develop players who can be the backbone of the team in the long term," he said.
Aminuddin is also optimistic that Daniel's experience, expertise and leadership can help NSFC achieve the set targets and take the club to a proud level.
Daniel is expected to start his duties in the near future, with the coaching staff that will be announced later. - BERNAMA
