“What attracted me to this song is that it does not portray heartbreak as something filled with anger or regret. Sometimes, the hardest thing is accepting that someone we once loved is now happier with someone else,” said Layla.

“We wanted to create a song that acknowledges disappointment and heartbreak, but at the same time leaves room for gratitude and kindness. This song is about finding peace, rather than continuing to hold on to pain,” said Brendon7an.

Known for his strong influence in the R&B genre and extensive experience in live performances, Brendon7an brings a unique element to the track through his vocal style and musical approach.

'Blessed To Have You' also showcases the creative collaboration between Layla, Brendon7an and the production team comprising Jinx Chin, Mingaling and Brendon7an.

Blending the classic elements of Mandarin ballads with modern R&B influences, atmospheric arrangements and emotionally driven vocals, the song aims to bridge the gap between older generations and today’s music listeners.

According to the production team, the song was inspired by a simple yet meaningful observation — that not every love story that ends has to leave behind resentment.

Sometimes, the most sincere form of love is being able to genuinely wish happiness for someone you once loved, even when that happiness is no longer shared with you.

The release of the single is accompanied by an official music video directed by renowned Malaysian music video director John Chion from Timez Art.

Known as the “Master of Light”, John Chion is recognised for his cinematic storytelling approach and his work with numerous local artists.

Through intimate and atmospheric visuals, the music video for 'Blessed To Have You' brings to life themes of memories, emotional healing and acceptance — portraying how love can transform into gratitude even after a relationship has ended.

The music video features Layla and Brendon7an, while also receiving support from local skincare brand Cosmoderm through an integrated campaign that highlights self-confidence, personal expression and self-growth.

With its heartfelt vocals, relatable story and universal message, 'Blessed To Have You' proves that love is not only about possession — but also about learning to accept, appreciate and let go with an open heart.
