JOHOR BAHRU - First-time voters in the Johor state election admitted feeling nervous as they headed to the polls, but said the experience left them proud to have played their part.

Student Alya Qistina, 20, said she was worried about making mistakes during the voting process, especially if it affected the validity of her vote.

“I felt nervous because I was scared I might choose the wrong option or make mistakes that could cause my vote not to be counted,” she told Sinar Daily after casting her vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Perling.

However, she said the experience reminded her that every vote matters, regardless of the number of people participating.

“To all first-time voters out there, let’s go out and vote,” she said.
