SUBANG JAYA – Tourism Malaysia and Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (Mydin) have launched the "Jom Jalan MYDIN" campaign as part of a strategic collaboration to promote domestic tourism, encourage support for locally made products and strengthen preparations for the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.
The initiative combines interactive shopping experiences with travel incentives, encouraging Malaysians to explore local destinations while enjoying rewards at selected Mydin outlets nationwide.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing described the public-private partnership as a proactive initiative that supports the nation's tourism aspirations and reinforces the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia campaign.
"Initiatives such as the 'Jom Jalan MYDIN' campaign have the potential to further strengthen the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia spirit among Malaysians.
"This collaboration supports preparations for VM2026 by reinforcing domestic tourism through shopping experiences that connect communities directly with local products and attractions," he said.
Mydin managing director Datuk Wira Ameer Ali Mydin said the retailer aims to transform its outlets into destinations that offer more than just shopping by creating meaningful experiences for customers.
"Mydin remains committed to supporting local products by providing opportunities for medium-sized enterprises and small and medium enterprises across the country to showcase their products.
"Through this campaign, we hope Malaysians will become more familiar with, appreciate and continue choosing products made in Malaysia," he said.
The campaign supports Tourism Malaysia's efforts to strengthen shopping tourism, a significant contributor to the country's domestic tourism revenue, while encouraging visitors to discover heritage products from across Malaysia under one roof.
Among the highlights is a Treasure Hunt at selected Mydin outlets, where participants can complete challenges while exploring tourism attractions, making the shopping experience more engaging while supporting charitable initiatives.
Visitors can also win domestic travel packages, including cruise experiences and hotel stays sponsored by Tabung Haji Travel. In addition, supplier partners are offering prizes, vouchers and savings worth more than RM5 million throughout the campaign.
Tourism Malaysia and Mydin said the collaboration reflects their shared commitment to stimulating economic growth across the retail, hospitality, transportation, food and beverage sectors, as well as supporting the development of local entrepreneurs ahead of VM2026.
The VM2026 campaign also reinforces Malaysia's commitment to sustainable tourism development in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, while showcasing the country's natural attractions, cultural heritage and diverse tourism offerings to create long-term benefits for local communities and the tourism industry.
