KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to undergo a pacemaker implantation procedure at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Friday.
His lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad said it would not be practical for the prosecution to proceed with reading the charges at IJN given the Bera member of parliament's current health condition.
According to him, the emergency treatment was required after Ismail Sabri suffered health complications on Thursday.
“Yesterday, he was at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters from 9am to 6pm.
“During the process, his health deteriorated before he was taken to IJN for immediate treatment,” he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.
Earlier, the prosecution proceedings against Ismail Sabri under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 were postponed to Aug 27 by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur.
Amer Hamzah said Ismail Sabri had a history of health problems.
“He suffered a fall two weeks ago and was admitted to Pantai Hospital.
“He was also scheduled to undergo a follow-up medical examination next Monday,” he said.
