“Police are investigating to ascertain the cause. At the same time, we will increase patrols and surveillance in Langgar and the surrounding areas,” he said on Tuesday.

The claims gained attention on Sunday after residents shared a two-minute-and-25-second CCTV recording in which knocking could be heard despite no one being visible outside the house.

Similar incidents were reportedly experienced in several residential areas, including Taman Vistana, Taman Amira, Taman Awana and Taman Lelasari, as well as Pekan Langgar.

Taman Vistana resident Shahira Azizan, 31, said the knocking at her home was so distinct that she initially believed her husband was outside.

Syed Basri urged the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information that could cause unnecessary alarm.

He advised residents to keep their doors and gates locked, particularly at night, and not to open them without first establishing who was outside.

“If there is any suspicious activity or unfamiliar individuals are seen, do not take matters into your own hands.

“Prioritise your safety and that of your family, and contact the nearest police station immediately for assistance,” he said.

Those with information about the incidents have been urged to contact police.
