BATU KAWAN - A country’s success should not be measured solely by economic and technological progress, but must also be supported by the development of a knowledgeable and disciplined younger generation, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said young people should be provided with an education that also instils values, a spirit of service and a sense of responsibility towards their families, society and country.

"What is the meaning of development, what is the meaning of a country’s success if our children are not instilled with spirit, education, discipline and love? That is why our children must have such a spirit.

"Why do we acquire knowledge at schools, institutions of higher learning and universities? It is to become knowledgeable and morally upright individuals who are able to serve society, their parents and also the country. This is a culture that must be nurtured,” he said.
