KUALA LUMPUR – Wanita Umno has stressed that the contributions and service of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to the party and the nation have never been forgotten.
Its chief, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, said political shifts should not cause anyone to forget past leaders who had dedicated a major part of their lives to Umno and the country.
"We appreciate past leaders who have given a major part of their lives to Umno and the nation.
"And Wanita Umno has not forgotten the contributions of Datuk Seri Najib Razak. We do not need to erase history to build the future," she said during her policy speech at the 2026 Wanita Umno Annual General Assembly at the World Trade Centre (WTC) here on Thursday.
Also present were Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Umno secretary-general Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki
She said Najib's contributions to national development, economic transformation, infrastructure growth, assistance to the people and the Umno struggle are part of the nation's journey that cannot be denied.
Noraini added, however, that her wing respects the institutions and legal procedures regarding matters currently undergoing the judicial process.
"However, respecting the legal process does not stop us from having human values.
"Wanita Umno knows how to appreciate contributions," she said.
She also offered prayers for Najib and his family, wishing them strength and fortitude in facing every trial.
"To Datuk Seri Najib and his family, Wanita Umno prays that you are granted the strength and perseverance to endure every test.
"We continue to pray that the doors of justice and compassion are opened, so that he may return to the embrace of his family and join us once again in continuing the struggle," she said.
At the same time, Noraini said that Wanita Umno expressed its loyalty to the party's cause by standing firmly behind the leadership of Zahid.
"Leading a party at its peak is a responsibility, but leading when the party is tested, when confidence needs to be rebuilt and when difficult decisions must be made requires a different kind of resilience.
"To the president, Wanita Umno expresses its gratitude for continuing to lead the party through such a complex political landscape," she said.
