SHAH ALAM - The situation in Negeri Sembilan requires immediate action by the Prime Minister and Malay Rulers to ensure the state administration can continue functioning and that the people's interests are not affected.

Former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said the Prime Minister should suspend his overseas trip and pay attention to developments in Negeri Sembilan.

He said the state administration must continue, including payment matters, while new contracts must also be signed.

"When there are no exco members and it is unclear who the legitimate government is, the Prime Minister and Malay Rulers must sit together to seek an amicable solution.

"Ask the parties concerned to refer these issues to the Federal Court," he said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Previously, it was reported that the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan had revoked the appointments of members of the State Executive Council with immediate effect.

According to a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household of the Negeri Sembilan Palace Datuk Azizi Mohamad Ali, the decision was made after it was found that all the exco members concerned had breached their oaths of office.

Zaid added that a full panel of the court should decide whether the removal of Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir and the exco members was valid, as well as who had been lawfully elected as the Undang.

"The only way to find a solution is for the parties concerned to agree to make a joint reference on all these questions and abide by the court's decision.

"If this effort fails, a declaration of emergency in Negeri Sembilan should be considered and the Constitution must be suspended.

"The people cannot continue to suffer any longer," he added.
