KUALA LUMPUR - MyEG Services Bhd (MyEG) had to settle its outstanding payments in full before any application to resume its operations could be considered, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
He said the ministry maintained its firm position that the full payment had to be settled first before any request to resume operations could be entertained.
"We stand by what we have said. We are expecting the payment. Before any application for operations to resume can be considered, there must be a settlement of the payment,” he said.
Loke said this to reporters after attending the handover ceremony of notification letters for special rate payments for houses of worship and capital-assisted schools at Menara Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) here today, which was also attended by Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri M. Jana Santhiran.
On Oct 5, Loke said the services of MyEG and Zetrix AI Bhd as Road Transport Department (JPJ) collection agents were suspended after they failed to transfer the RM314 million in revenue collected between May 19 and Sept 30 to the government.
The action was taken after the companies failed to settle the outstanding amount despite receiving 35 reminders and being engaged by the authorities since May, according to Loke. - BERNAMA
