SHAH ALAM - A food delivery rider touched the hearts of social media users after helping a father who had run out of money for his children’s school expenses and was struggling to find work.

The incident was shared by food delivery rider Mohd Zaenuddin Jupri, 33, on his TikTok account, where he recounted how he encountered the man pushing his motorcycle along the roadside at about 1am while heading home after work.

Zaenuddin said he stopped to ask what had happened and was told that the man’s motorcycle had run out of petrol.

“I didn’t say much and immediately towed his motorcycle to a petrol station. Whenever I tow a motorcycle that has run out of petrol, I always ask the rider, ‘Do you have money to buy petrol?’

“He remained silent and I understood what that meant. I immediately handed him RM5 to buy petrol,” he said.

He said the man initially refused to accept the money but eventually agreed after Zaenuddin persuaded him, as he was concerned about the man’s safety if he continued pushing the motorcycle.

After the man had refuelled, Zaenuddin noticed that he seemed to want to say something before gathering the courage to explain that he wanted to borrow RM6 to cover his children’s school expenses the following day.

“‘Bro, I’m embarrassed to ask, but I have to do it for my children. Could I borrow RM6? I need money for my children’s school expenses tomorrow and I’ve been looking for cash-in-hand jobs since this afternoon but haven’t found any.’

“When he said that, tears were already welling up in his eyes. Hearing his words made me feel deeply moved,” he said.

Zaenuddin said he got off his motorcycle, patted the man on the shoulder and reassured him.

“I didn’t say much. I just patted him on the shoulder and said, ‘Stay strong, brother. You can get through this.’ That was when he broke down in tears,” he recalled.

Touched by the man’s hardship, Zaenuddin then handed over all the tips he had received from customers that day to help ease his burden.

He added that although the man had initially asked to borrow only RM6, he eventually accepted the money after being persuaded.

“I told him, ‘Take it, brother. Allah has destined this sustenance for you. I’m just the person delivering it to you. Don’t turn down a blessing; it’s not right to do so.’

“By then, his cheeks were wet with tears and he kept thanking me,” he said.
