KUALA LIPIS – The Pahang state government has gazetted about 16,000 housing plots under the Felda New Generation People Land Scheme (STRFP) for the second generation of settlers in the state.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the initiative was aimed at safeguarding the welfare of the community and improving housing opportunities for the next generation of settlers.
“Although the Felda Act stipulates that houses cannot be built on the original plots, I raised the matter at a National Land Council meeting, as the state government's representative, to allow second-generation families to build houses on their original plots.
“Alhamdulillah, Felda has approved the matter,” he said during the Sinar Harian Town Hall Rakyat programme with the Pahang Menteri Besar at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall here on Monday.
Wan Rosdy said the welfare and needs of the Felda community remained a priority, noting that Pahang had 43,016 Felda residents across 115 schemes in three regions.
He added that 95.5 per cent of settlers in the state had received their land ownership titles, which he said was the highest rate in Malaysia.
“The remaining settlers who have yet to receive their titles are facing delays due to inheritance issues beyond the state government's control. However, we are working to resolve these cases.
“Insya-Allah, we aim to reduce the number of outstanding land titles to zero and hand them over to the settlers.
“That is the state government's responsibility, and we are working to fulfil it,” he said.
