MELAKA - Pakatan Harapan (PH) is banking on the extensive federal administrative experience of its candidate, Datuk Azman Abidin, in the contest for the Paya Rumput seat in the Melaka state election, said acting Melaka PKR chief Adam Adli Abd Halim.

He said the selection of the Prime Minister's political secretary reflected PH’s commitment to offering an experienced candidate who can understand residents' needs and translate them into effective solutions.

"Paya Rumput is not a place for a token candidate. We have made sure that the candidate we field has experience, wisdom and, most importantly, knows what needs to be done.

"When we field a figure like Azman, who has an extensive background in the country’s administration, it means we are taking this seriously,” he said at the launch of the Paya Rumput operations room and a meet-and-greet session with party machinery and members of PKR Tangga Batu division here last night.

Also present were Home Minister and PKR vice-president performing the duties of deputy president, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Senator Isaiah Jacob and PKR Tangga Batu chief Azlan Osman.

Adam Adli said Azman’s experience serving at the Prime Minister’s Office had given him exposure to the policymaking and implementation processes, management of government agencies and coordination of allocations.

He said these strengths could help Azman champion the needs of Paya Rumput residents more effectively, particularly in areas involving basic infrastructure development, welfare and community development.

"This close relationship will ensure that the implementation of basic infrastructure projects, welfare issues and community development in Paya Rumput can be expedited without bureaucratic obstacles.

"The progress of an area requires an elected representative who not only turns up to listen to problems, but also has access and avenues to secure quick solutions through the support of the federal government administration,” he said.
