MUSIC lovers can look forward to a night of live performances, creative expression and local talent as Sound-Cek brings Malaysia’s indie music scene to HELP University on Nov 27.

The music gig will take place at EMPH Hall at the university’s Subang Bestari Campus, organised by students from the Faculty of Communication, Media and Creative Industries (FCMCI) as part of their Final Year Project (FYP).

Sound-Cek aims to introduce at least 200 members of Generation Z to local independent musicians through live performances and a digital promotional campaign, while encouraging greater support for homegrown artists.

The event will feature four local indie acts which are Project Amplified, Mirthles, Ikat Tepi and Kathrika, giving audiences an opportunity to discover their music and experience the diversity of Malaysia’s independent music scene.

Beyond the performances, visitors can explore food and beverages from local vendors, visit the Delicate Jaguar tattoo booth and receive free stickers as souvenirs.

“Sound-Cek is more than just a music performance. It is a platform for people to experience creative works, discover local talent and build connections through music,” said project leader Aless Khor.

Head of Department of the Faculty of Communication, Media and Creative Industries Sheena V said the initiative aimed to encourage younger generations to appreciate the arts and take pride in Malaysia’s artistic talent.

The event also gives students hands-on experience in event planning, production, promotion and audience engagement, allowing them to apply the communication and creative skills developed throughout their studies.

By bringing together live music, local vendors and creative experiences, Sound-Cek aims to create a space where audiences can discover independent artists, connect through music and show their support for Malaysia’s growing creative scene.
