The Bersatu Youth wing says the agreement prioritises national interests, public welfare, political stability and the integrity of the Federal Government

SHAH ALAM – The Confidence and Supply Agreement (CSA) signed by six Bersatu MPs with the Federal Government must protect Bumiputera interests while prioritising national welfare, political stability and institutional reforms, says Bersatu Youth wing Armada.

Armada information chief Harris Idaham Rashid said the agreement was guided by four principles: national interests, public welfare, political stability and the integrity of the Federal Government.

He said stable domestic governance was essential amid current geoeconomic challenges to ensure the welfare of ordinary Malaysians remained protected.

“As a movement that fully supports the decisions of the central leadership, Armada stresses that Bersatu has ensured the Bumiputera Empowerment Agenda is incorporated into the agreement as a key element that cannot be compromised.

“This is to ensure that the economic ecosystem, educational equity and socio-economic opportunities for the indigenous population continue to be protected and strengthened through federal policies in line with the party’s demands,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Harris said the CSA also reflected Bersatu’s commitment to institutional reforms aimed at strengthening democratic governance and accountability.

He said the party had secured conditions for legal and structural reforms that it considered fundamental to the country’s democratic development.

Among the proposed reforms was a limit on the Prime Minister’s tenure to promote transparent governance and prevent an excessive concentration of power.

Another proposal involved separating the roles of the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor to safeguard judicial independence and uphold the rule of law without political interference.

“Armada believes that mature politics must be based on objective checks and balances.

“The CSA serves as evidence of Bersatu’s principled commitment to prioritising national interests over partisan political manoeuvring for a more stable and transparent future for Malaysia,” he said.

Earlier, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Federal Government had agreed to provide the six MPs with annual constituency development allocations of between RM3 million and RM4 million each.

The allocations would take effect from the date the CSA was signed.

Muhyiddin said the agreement formalised the six MPs’ support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership. He confirmed that he had signed the agreement on behalf of all six MPs at Parliament on Thursday.
