KUALA LUMPUR - Nine people, including a woman, were arrested following a clash believed to have stemmed from a dispute over control of a business area outside a café in Desa Tun Razak, Sungai Besi, here last night.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspects, aged between 16 and 44, were arrested by a team from the Sungai Besi police station’s Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit and Cheras district police headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Division.
He said police received information about a fight involving a group of people at about 11 pm and initial investigations found that it was triggered by a dispute over business territory.
"Police acted swiftly and arrested eight men and a woman near the scene, including two main suspects in the case,” he said in a statement today.
Fadil said checks found that most of the suspects had previous criminal and drug-related records. Police also seized several items believed to have been used in the fight.
The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting armed with a weapon. - BERNAMA
