According to the Times of Israel, who quoted a statement issued by the Palestine Ministry of Interior, they have arrested the individual whom they believed had colluded with Israel Intelligence agency, Mossad, for Dr Fadi's assassination.
“We arrested a person involved in the assassination of engineer Fadi al-Batsh in Malaysia. He admitted to participating in the assassination, which was commissioned by the Israeli Mossad,'' said the statement.
Dr Fadi is an electrical engineer and was formerly a lecturer with UNIKL-BMI. In 2018, he was gunned down by two motorcyclists on his way to Subuh prayers at his local surau in Medan Idaman, Setapak.
Dr Fadi's family have maintained that Mossad had a play in his death. Hamas had also claimed Dr Fadi is a member of the organisation, posthumously.
Israel's defence minister Avigdor Liberman at the time had denied any Israeli involvement and even stated that Dr Fadi "was not a saint" and further alleged the lecturer was involved in the production of rockets. The claim by Liberman was vehemently denied by Dr Fadi's family.
Earlier today, Cinta Gaza Malaysia chief executive officer Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman had also posted on his Facebook over the arrest made by Hamas.
Muhammad Nadir further claimed that the killer was seeking payments from the Israelis but spying activities done by Hamas security services had led to the arrest.
In 2018, Malaysian police had provided details of the alleged murderers' means of killing Dr Fadi, including that the suspects were possibly from the middle east.
