Life is too short to miss out on a good, juicy burger. They are life’s greatest guilty pleasures! While Malaysians have been well accustomed to the sight of a Ramly burger stall in practically every corner, Klang Valley is now home to a growing number of homegrown gourmet burger restaurants too. The Sinar Daily team went gallivanting around town to discover some great burger selections. Ride along for a tasty ride in this very first episode of Dazzle.

PASADENA BURGER

Travelling to California just to savour some good ol’ California style gourmet burgers may a little far-fetched at this point. But there is a burger joint in Plaza Mont Kiara that serves halal Californian style burgers. One standout item from its menu is the Dipping Cheese Burger, where it’s an ensemble of a well-seasoned burger patty sandwiched between a muffin burger bun, complete with a slice of crispy cheese, and lettuce.

If you’re a cheese connoisseur, we trust that one slice of cheese in a burger isn’t enough for you to sink your teeth into. The founder of Pasadena Burger, Cornelius Lu knows this all too well, which is why they decided to introduce the Dipping Cheese Burger.

There are three selections of cheese sauce available – Honey Cheese, Cajun Chili Queso, and Habanero Cheese with Minced Meat. The Habanero selection is a winner for us; the texture was rich and it offered the right amount of heat.

Other selections include an authentic Cheese Burger, a Spicy Crunchy Paprika Chicken Burger, Aloha Burger which is complimented well with a luscious glass of milkshake! Try it out for yourself at Plaza Mont Kiara.

MEAN MINCE

Tucked in the neighbourhood of Mutiara Damansara is a burger joint called Mean Mince, spearheaded by chef Nik Md Syazmin Nik Naim Shukran, or Min. The American themed restarurant that specializes in burgers but they also serve a range of American classics like the deep-dish pizza but they are most famous for their Deep Fried Burger, which you can’t find anywhere else in Malaysia according to Min.

While the concept is deep fried, not everything is in fact, fried. The patty would be seasoned and grilled then they will roll out the dough before stuffing it with mozzarella cheese and caramelized onion. The patty would be place on top before everything gets wrapped up and deep fried in hot oil. The burger would be served with a knife stacked in the middle. Once it’s cut open, a whole lot of cheese will start oozing out! Definitely an experience to remember.

While their menu is inspired by American style buttermilk fried chicken, they do love their spices so the chicken is available in four spice levels; neat comes with no additional spice, mild is topped with cayenne pepper, hot is topped with ghost peppers and hot is topped with ghost peppers and our extra hot is topped with Carolina reapers.
