KUALA LUMPUR -- Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Harun have not received any notice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to debate the allegations surrounding Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki in the Special Parliamentary Sitting today.

Azhar explain that the special sitting today was scheduled at the full discretion of Ismail Sabri in his capacity as the prime minister and it is ultimately up to the latter to discuss the matter or otherwise.

“I did not receive any notice from the prime minister on the matter and therefore I will treat that the motion will not be included in today’s agenda.

“So we have to proceed with today’s sitting in accordance with the agenda,’’ he said.

Azhar was responding to questions raised by Pulai MP Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub as well as Teluk MP Nga Kor Ming on the motion they have sent to Azhar two days prior to discuss the allegations against Azam.

Salahudin said to Azhar that while the issue of floods is a grave matter that needed to be discussed, there is also a critical need for lawmakers to discuss the share trading controversy surrounding Azam as it involves the integrity of the MACC.
