SHAH ALAM - The pickup truck driver who rammed into a multipurpose vehicle (MPV), killing four people in a family at KM2 of Jalan Lebu-Mempaga, Bentong, two days ago, has been remanded for six days beginning Saturday.

The remand order was issued by Raub magistrate’s court deputy registrar Yusri Wanu Suki.

Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the 44-year old suspect will be remanded until Feb 4, to facilitate the investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He said initial investigations revealed that the suspect was tested positive for drugs.

On Friday, four family members including three children were killed while one was injured when the Toyota Vellfire they were travelling in was hit by a Nissan Navara pickup truck which was believed to have run a red light.

The only person who survived the 3.10 pm crash was Mohd Nazri Hamid, 44, while the deceased was his wife Raihan Mohamad, 43, an English teacher at SK Aring, Gua Musang, and their three children - Ahda Dalili Mohd Nazri, 14, Ahmad Muaz, 7, and Ahda Imtinan, 4.

Mohd Nazri, who was also a teacher in the same school, said they were heading for Kuala Lumpur from the school housing quarters in Gua Musang at 10am to attend a wedding feast on that same day.

The remains of Raihan and her three children were buried at 9.50 am, yesterday.
