CHEFCHAOUEN - A horizontal drilling operation was launched to save a 5-year-old boy, who fell into a 32-meter-deep well in Morocco, reported Anadolu Agency (AA).

Local television station Channel 2 in its Facebook page said rescue works continue to rescue the boy, identified only by his first name, Rayan, in the city of Shafshavan in the north of the country.

The teams have been working for about 76 hours, and the horizontal drilling operation was started by using concrete pipes to save the boy, the channel added.

Rayan has been stuck since Tuesday noon in the dry well.

The boy’s plight has gripped the North African country since that day.

Footage from a camera lowered into the well showed that the boy remains alive and conscious. Rescue workers have lowered an oxygen mask.

A helicopter is on standby to transport him to the nearest hospital. - BERNAMA
