KLUANG - The Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) has received many complaints of fake news involving the Johor state election.

Its minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said while the ministry will be monitoring the matter, the situation was under control for now.

"We have to keep monitoring the situation and while we know we can’t prevent it totally, we can mobilise and create awareness as spreading fake news is not only bad, it also does not benefit anyone,” he told Bernama.

Annuar said this when met at the ‘Santai Anak Muda di Ngepot Kabin’ programme, here, on Friday.

Earlier, Annuar, who is on a three-day working visit to Johor from yesterday, performed the Maghrib prayer with residents of Kampung Melayu here before attending the Santai Anak Muda programme.

Today, at 10.30am, he will officiate at the launch of the Central Zone Keluarga Malaysia Digital Economy Centre (PEDi) in Felda Kahang Barat.

Later at night, Annuar will present appointment letters to Keluarga Malaysia (Central Zone) community heads at a hotel here.

On Sunday, Annuar will attend a ‘Bicara Keluarga Malaysia’ Town Hall session and the launch of World Radio Day at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Johor in Johor Bahru. - BERNAMA
