SHAH ALAM: Malaysia logged 43 new deaths last night, raising the death toll to 32,634 people.

The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported out of the new fatalities yesterday (Feb 26), 13 were brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

It stated that the reported number of deaths also involved a number of outstanding cases with some of them dying a few weeks back.

This, it said, was due to the verifying process to determine whether or not the patients died as a result of the virus.

Meanwhile, there are 298,976 active Covid-19 nationwide of which 96 per cent were carrying out home quarantine.

A total of 3,758 people were placed at the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC), while 7,911 cases were being treated in hospitals.

As of last night, 348 patients have been placed in the intensive care unit (ICU), of which 145 patients were on breathing aids and 203 were ventilated.
