Rantau Panjang - Villagers here say they are experiencing the worst floods since 2014, further calling it "extraordinary" and "traumausing" as they helplessly watch their homes being washed away.

A Tersang resident, Nori Azila Rosli, 33, said the recent floods brought back the old memories of homes being washed away.

She had to escape to a relative’s house in Jakar village. “My double-story house is submerged in water except for the roof," she said.

Her neighbour, Junaidah Awang Senik, 55 lost her rented house after it was washed away by the strong currents, added Nori.

“I was informed that Junaidah’s house drifted and got stuck in front of another neighbour's house," she said, adding that she is unable to communicate as a phone battery is down after power cuts.

Mukim Tanah Putih Chief, Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman added so far five houses belonging to the Tersang villagers have been washed away by floods yesterday.

“What is happening here is shocking. There could be more homes that have been washed away," he said.
