'Is your husband okay with this' questions women politicians put up with

SHAH ALAM - Are you married? Do you have a family? Is your husband okay with this?. These are some of the questions women in politics put up with, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar said.
The Puteri Umno leader said women shoulder more responsibility as they divide between work and family.
“People also asked if my husband is okay with me in politics.
“But let me tell you that if I could not do it, I would not be here,” she said during a talk show by Sinar Daily, Relatable.
The talk show was also attended by MCA Youth Chief Datuk Nicole Wong Siaw Ting and DAP Women Wing’s International Secretary Kasthuri Patto.
Khaidhirah said that women needed to be persuaded to join politics.
However, society does not pose the same questions to women even though women are not only capable but sometimes outperform the men.
She hoped being a mother will not be a setback but a strength as she sees women attending meetings with their children as they manage both successfully.
"Young women in politics should not see this as an disadvantage but strength as men will not be able to do this,” she added.
